Unlike other popular e-commerce companies, Boohoo stock only their own brands. They boast a range of own-named brands catered to different shapes and sizes, men and women and adhere to many current fashion trends with lookbooks and guides.

Boohoo also offer a variety of ‘shops,’ which are collections organised to make navigating through the website easier. So if you know you are looking for things you’ll wear at Christmas, for fancy dress, on holiday or at work for example, Boohoo have sections for you to choose from.

In terms of actual products, Boohoo women’s offers what you would expect; tops, shirts, blouses, coats, jackets, skirts, shorts, dresses, trousers, knitwear, lingerie and swimwear. They also sell bodysuits, co-ord sets, playsuits, onesies, an array of accessories and shoes and… dog jumpers.

For men, they provide hoodies, sweats, jumpers, t-shirts, trousers, shirts, shorts, jeans, coats and ‘loungewear.’

A guide to ordering with Boohoo

Boohoo are strictly an online retailer, so they do not have a store and you are unable to order anything online. Untraditional in its approach and up to date with the modern age, they believe online ordering is the best way to pay.

Paying at Boohoo

The clothing firm aims to make the process of paying as simple and efficient as possible and use both ‘Verified by Visa’ and ‘Secure by Mastercard’ to keep the payments secure. Boohoo accept the following forms of payment: Visa, Visa Debit, MasterCard, Solo, Maestro, Electron and American Express as well as PayPal, Ideal and Giftcards.

As an industry standard, Boohoo use encryption systems for potentially and critically sensitive information, such as your name, address and credit/debit card details.

As soon as you submit your order at the point of payment, Boohoo get authorisation from your bank and take the payment from your account. If there are any queries or problems with your choice of payment, the customer services team will be in touch.

Tracking and changing your order

Boohoo are currently unable to change any orders once they’ve been placed as they run a fast and efficient warehouse team who process it immediately. You can always return your order once it’s been delivered, so have a look at our Boohoo returns guide.

You can track your order when entering your 8 digit code into the ‘Track my order’ on Boohoo’s customer service page.

Boohoo notifications​

As usual with e-commerce you will be directed to an order confirmation message and you will receive a confirmation email (which could take up to 30 minutes). These will contain your order number, and once members of the warehouse team have processed that order you receive an email notifying you of despatch (check your spam folder if you are worried you haven’t received this).

Discounts and gift cards at Boohoo

As with many e-commerce companies, Boohoo offer a range of promotional codes and discounts throughout the year. Whether it’s flash sales, free delivery or 3 for 2, keep an eye on the Boohoo Twitter, Facebook or homepage and subscribe to their newsletter emails to find out about the deals. We’ve outlined what Boohoo offer below.

Student discount

In conjunction with UNiDAYS, Boohoo offer a 10% discount for students. UNiDAYS is a free service and all UK students can apply. You must have registered and logged in with UNiDAYS to benefit from the discount.

Promotional codes

If you’re lucky enough to have a promotional code, you must add to the ‘Promotional Code’ box at the checkout, if the code is valid the discount will be applied once you click ‘apply.’ Boohoo can’t add a discount to an order that’s already been place so can’t do anything if you forget to use it.

Boohoo only offer codes one per order and for a limited time, so if the code is expired or you are attempting to use two you will have trouble redeeming the discount. The same goes for the selected category and selected delivery option, as some discounts only apply to certain products and specific delivery services.

Gift vouchers

A Boohoo gift voucher could make a perfect present for a fan of the store and allows them to choose something for themselves. You can apply for a gift certificate here, but remember they are only available to customers in the UK paying in GBP £.

Gift cards aren’t redeemable for cash and are non-transferable, they are also valid for one year from the issue date so remind the recipient to use it within that time frame.

All you need to do is select the value of the card, write a personal message and Boohoo can send the card straight to them via email (make sure you get their email address correct as there is nothing Boohoo can do to redirect the gift voucher).

The voucher is added to the shopping bag on the site so you can just go through the same process of payment – although you can only purchase a gift card on its own. If you wish to buy more products you must make a separate order.

The Boohoo returns policy

As a completely online retailer, Boohoo aim to keep the returns process simple and hassle-free so all UK customers can return unwanted items with ease.

How do I return my Boohoo goods?

Keep your tags on, repack the item in its original secure packaging and return the item exactly how it came within 14 calendar days of your despatch note.

Ensure you stick the returns label on your delivery note over your own address on the parcel bag, but if you need a new sticker you can download one on the Boohoo website. Send it to post via the Post Office free of charge, and get proof of postage when you do so. Don’t use the post box as you won’t be able to receive a certificate of posting.

Keep your proof of postage safe as the package is your responsibility until a Boohoo warehouse receive it. All refunds are given to the payment method you use in your original order. If Boohoo do not receive your returned items they can ask for the proof of postage and they reserve the right to refuse a refund if you are unable to provide that proof.

Do note, too that pierced jewellery is non-refundable and swimwear and lingerie should be tried on with the seal intact over underwear. Boohoo do not currently provide exchanges either, so unfortunately if you require a different size, colour or a completely different item, you need to return your goods as a refund and place a new order.

How long is the process and can I track my returns?

When Boohoo receive your return they will send you an email to confirm refund entitlement. The refund process can take up to 21 days from this point, as long as the product is returned within the 14 day policy.

If the refund has been processed it can take 3-5 working days for the payment to show in your bank, depending on the issuer.

If the product is proved to be faulty you should receive a full refund, including the price of delivery. However, if you are returning a product that isn’t faulty you will not get the delivery charge refunded. Boohoo ask that you contact them on Twitter if you receive a faulty product, or contact them on their online contact form. A customer service agent should look into it for you immediately.

Collect+ returns alternative

Boohoo now work with Collect+, the returns service in thousands of local stores across mainland UK and Northern Ireland. You return your parcel to one of 5,500 convenience stores firstly by generating a returns label and finding your nearest store. You must repack the item in the same way as a normal return but securely attach the Collect+ label to the original delivery label. You will receive proof of postage at the store when you drop it off, and you can track it using the code you are given.

Returns, receipts and exchanges with JD Sports

As with most other stores, you can return your unwanted items to any JD Sports store with the card you paid on, your despatch note if you ordered online and the actual goods you want to return.
Online and in store returns must be made in 14 days, and exchanges in 28.
You will need suitable proof of purchase to receive returns, so JD will not offer anything without a till receipt. If you have lost your receipt and paid on card, you could use a debit or credit card statement highlighting the purchase. If you produce a statement, however, JD will only offer you an exchange or gift card in place of a return. JD will not return any items which have been paid for on PayPal or Apple Pay.

Online

The online returns policy is the same time frame as in store, though if you have bought goods online then your despatch note acts as your receipt.

If you are returning an item that you have bought online, an email will be sent to you when a member of the warehouse team have received it. If you haven’t gotten this email within 10 days of returning you can contact the Customer Care team. Remember to note the original order number and state the item you have returned with any delivery reference numbers.

JD have teamed up with Hermes, who can arrange a returns courier service collection from a home or alternative address from £2.50.

You can also make your own returns arrangement with a courier of your choice, but JD recommend you use one where “Certificate of Posting” is available as the package is your responsibility until it gets to their office. If you wish to do this, send to the following address:

What do I do if my product is faulty?

If you wish to receive a refund or exchange for a faulty item you can take the item in to your local store along with proof of purchase and a member of the sales team will attempt to establish a manufacturing defect. If so, a refund or exchange will be provided but if a store manager is able to identify a defect, or it was bought more than 90 days ago, they will send the item for inspection to the JD Sports Head Office.

If you have agreed to this you will be given a receipt with a unique reference number for proof, but still keep your original proof of purchase. The product will be sent internally from the store to their Returns Department where they will inspect it and make a decision. If it is found to have a manufacturing fault you will get a credit letter which you can take to the store and get an exchange or refund. If not, the product will be sent to the address you provided along with a letter to explain JD’s decision.

You are only able to return a personalised item if the text is incorrect or if the product is faulty.

Exchanges

Online exchanges should be despatched within “a few days” of the company receiving the products. They are able to be exchanged for different sizes, colours or a different product completely if the price is the same or lower than the item you are exchanging, as they can refund any difference in price. They do not offer exchanges for items higher in value.

Where is my JD Sports delivery?

Where is my order?

Check the tracking link in the despatch email to see up to date information if your JD Sports order hasn’t arrived by the estimated delivery date. Ensure you have left the correct contact details and delivery information for your order and check with your neighbours in case the courier has left it with them. Same goes for any other safe areas like a porch or a shed.

Deliveries can come any time from 7.30am – 10pm and signatures may be required. The courier may leave a calling card with details on how to re-arrange delivery, or a redelivery attempt could be made without the courier contacting you.

All UK home deliveries can be tracked and your despatch email will tell you how to do this, otherwise you can log in to your account Order History > Tracking. Allow 12 hours for order information to be available and 24 if you live in Ireland. There can be a delay between the email being sent and the courier receiving the order, too.

Some international orders cannot be tracked so allow full delivery time before getting in touch with JD as delivery can take up to 10 working days, sometimes longer.

If after this you would still like to get in contact with JD then ensure you have your order number ready to quote to a customer service agent.

Other forms of delivery

Collect From Store
If you have placed an order and have chosen Collect From Store, you will receive an email or SMS once it is ready for collection in store, as long as you have provided a valid email address and mobile number. Do not attempt to collect your order if you haven’t got the SMS or email and don’t forget to bring a copy of it along, as well as some ID such as the card you used to pay or proof of address. This type of order cannot be tracked as it is done internally, but if you place as order in store it will normally be delivered in 3 to 5 working days.

Evening delivery
It is also possible to pay a fee of £7.99 for evening delivery if you are unable to make the delivery times work for you. The times are between 6pm and 10pm in Mainland UK, including Sundays and Bank Holidays. If you order before 1am the same day, you will receive your delivery that evening, 7 days a week. So place your order before 1am on a Monday and receive it between 6-10pm the same day (this service is not available in the following postcodes: AB, BT, GY, IV, IM, JE).

Next Day Delivery
This service costs £5.99 and they will deliver the order the following day if it completed before 9pm Sunday-Friday, and 8pm Saturday. Again this is only available to mainland UK addresses (excluding postcodes: AB, BT, GY, IV, IM, JE).

My order has been cancelled or part of my order is missing

If JD cannot send all of the items on your order or your order has been cancelled they should usually notify you via email beforehand with the reason. If not, then the details of this will be printed on the note you receive with your delivery and they will refund payments for any missing items or cancelled orders.
If you get no email, and no message on your despatch note then you should call JD where a member of the team should be able to resolve the issue on 0161 393 7055.

Can I cancel my delivery?

JD Sports run a fast and efficient delivery service that organises your order as soon as it has been processed, so they are unable to make any amendments to it. However, if you are quick enough you may be able to cancel it before it has been dispatched. By quick, we mean contacting the customer service team within 30 minutes after placing the order.


The JD Sports Ultimate Gift Card

The JD Sports Ultimate Gift Card can be used to purchase goods from hundreds of brands in 500 stores in the UK, Northern Ireland and Channel Islands (if they are participating).

Everything I need to know

The amount on the gift card can be redeemed in a range of JD Group stores, including Millets, Blacks, Scotts, JD Pro and Tessuti.

Bank is no longer part of the JD Sports Fashion Group, so you can’t use the Ultimate Gift Card in Bank stores. If you previously bought the Ultimate Gift Card from a Bank Fashion store or on the Bank website you can still use it at participating JD Sports Fashion Group stores, just not Bank itself.

Cards are subject to a minimum of £10 and cannot exceed £300. You can buy online gift cards but Ultimate Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase items online. Website offers cannot be used in conjunction with online Gift Card purchases.

Ensure that you when giving the gift you remind the person it is only valid for 12 months, as after this the amount on the card will expire and the balance will sit at zero. Ask a member of staff to tell you your remaining balance at a participating store when you present your card. Or if you make any purchases the balance will be shown on your till receipt.

The card can be used to pay in full for part of any goods you are purchasing in a participating store, just present it at the time of purchase.

You don’t need to activate the card as it comes loaded with the chosen amount, and it not a cheque guarantee or credit card. Refunds cannot be issued for gift cards and they cannot be resold. If you lose or damage your card, JD are not liable as they can’t deactivate the card and issue a new one.

JD Sports payments and PayPal

JD Sports accept the following secure payment methods, both in store and online: Visa, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro, American Express and PayPal. JD use MasterCard Secure Code and Verified by Visa to ensure security.

If the payments on your account are not going through you must firstly check the details are correct, including the three digit security code on the back of your credit or debit card.

Alternatively, you can place an order over the phone by contacting the customer service team Monday – Friday 8am-8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm and Sunday 10am-6pm on 0161 393 7055.

Discounts

Website promotions and offers usually apply automatically at the checkout, but if you have a discount or promotional code you must enter in the box at the point of payment which says ‘Enter Your Promo Code’ and click the ‘redeem’ button.

JD Sports do not currently offer student discount.

Using PayPal with JD Sports

You can purchase items from JD Sports online using PayPal or in any nationwide store, using the PayPal In Store App.

You can get the app for free on your smartphone’s App Store by searching ‘PayPal In Store.’

In store: open the app > click pay in store > app displays unique pre-authorised barcode and number > cashier will enter the number into the till.

The payment is taken from your PayPal account and appears as a normal transaction. You’ll receive a confirmation email from PayPal just as you do when purchasing things on eBay or other e-commerce websites, as well as a normal printed store receipt.

You are able to get refunds on the app, too. But only if the original payment was the PayPal In Store app. If you buy something via PayPal online, you can’t receive a refund at a JD branch because it is classed as a different form of payment.

3 IKEA services you didn’t know existed

Among the IKEA services you probably already know about - such as the supplying of Swedish foods, furniture assembly, delivery, kitchen planning, installation and van hire – there are a few things you might not have heard of.

1. Buy an inflatable roof rack

Ikea has teamed up with HandiRack. They provide IKEA customers with a preferential rate of £54.99 if you choose to buy an inflatable roof rack online prior to your visit to your IKEA store.
Enabling you to get the bulkier, heavier products home you needn’t worry about the size of your boot or making multiple trips back to the store.

2. The curtain making and alteration service

If you’re more comfortable letting a professional alter your textiles, you can do so at participating stores. The alteration service can create curtains out of materials or simply tailor them to the size you need, bringing a more personalised life to your home.

3. Furniture recycling 

IKEA offer even further convenience for you at a non-profit fee when delivering new purchases.
They will dispose of eligible products so you don’t have to, and are partnered with a number of charities who will give your unwanted items to local families in need of support. If the item is not reusable, it will be recycled in with the lowest environmental impact possible.

The product you wish to recycle must be being replaced by its IKEA equivalent, whether that’s a bed frame, mattress or appliance. Only those similar to those delivered will be removed as it is not a general waste-disposal service. The product should be clean, dry and not left in the garden, and you should also disassemble the products before prior to their arrival in order to complete a swift and efficient delivery.

This is not available for online orders and can only be used when booked alongside a home delivery service in an IKEA store. IKEA will not accept responsibility for any damage to interior or exterior of property or to any other items when removing the products, so make sure you read the terms and conditions.

Each price is charged per unit so a 3-piece sofa, for example, is counted as three.

Online and delivery services at IKEA

What is shop online?

There are currently over 7000 IKEA products on their online store, with the majority of furniture and even some market hall foodstuffs. But while all IKEA products are available to buy in-store, not all are available to buy online.


They attempt to put as many products as possible online, even if it isn’t possible to buy them, as they want to allow you to browse their selection before visiting the store and even let you note down any product numbers you may need to make your trip easier.


The company plan to increase their online selection but for now you can tell when it is available and when it is not simply by the blue “Add to basket” button or the lack of. If the product has a button that says “save to list,” you are only able to get it in store. It’s as simple as that!

​Am I eligible?

IKEA online only covers mainland England, Wales and Scotland though you should use the postcode checker to make sure your address is applicable. Online and delivery services are not available in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland though there are stores in both Belfast and Dublin. IKEA plan to introduce delivery and online in these areas in next 18 months.

The furniture firm also intend to roll out a Click and Collect service in the near future but you are currently unable to collect online purchases from store or reserve any products.

Ordering online

Working just the same as other e-commerce websites, you browse, you select, you proceed to checkout and you follow the payment steps on screen. Like others, a range of debit, credit and loyalty cards can be used securely to complete your payment.

You will then receive a confirmation email, and ‘et voila’ fashionable furniture or foodstuffs to your front door.

The delivery services

If you are in an IKEA store’s delivery area, parcels can be delivered from the distribution centre to your chosen address. The service is available 7 days a week and can be organised for a time that suits you.

There are two delivery services available:
1. Parcel delivery is for small items weighing up to 25kg and can comprise of multiple small packages up to a total of 100kg. Products unsuitable for this service include items larger than 150cm or containing mirror and glass; any such item will be transferred to the truck delivery service. You needn’t be at home to accept parcel deliveries. The charge for this service is £7.50 and if you are not at home Parcel Force will leave a card to inform you that they have been. They can rearrange the delivery to suit you or you can choose to collect it from your nearest depot. They deliver Monday-Friday 9am-6pm.

2. All orders classified as ‘large’ (over 25kg) will be delivered via the truck delivery service. The prices for this service are calculated at point of payment and are based on postcode, but start at £35. The date of your delivery will be displayed to you at checkout and in your order email. They will confirm this date within 72 hours over email and will specify the courier – these notifications can also be sent by SMS if you have included a mobile telephone number in your order phone.

If you would like to keep an eye on your order you can use the order number and your postcode to log into the Order Tracker on the IKEA website.

Cancelling your IKEA order

To keep in line with the Distance Selling Regulations, you are able to cancel your order at any time before delivery and do so on by logging into the order tracker or contacting IKEA with your order details.
If you have already had your products delivered you can request a collection or take them back to the store yourself alongside a valid receipt within 14 days.

If you want to change an existing order you can call them too though it may delay the delivery date.

Remember to use Prove I Called when contacting IKEA in case you need evidence of that call further own the line in case of dispute with the company.
